Hunting information

Permits and Policies

Important: We can no longer purchase licenses for our clients from out of country or province due to the changes in government regulations. Clients must apply for and purchase their migratory bird licenses and BC Hunting license number prior to arrival. It is recommended you start this process at least 3 months ahead of your hunt booking date to ensure you get your paperwork in time.

Cancellation Policy

All deposits are non refundable. If you cancel we will make every effort to resell your spot and refund your money, however inside 90 days this is not an option.  Cancellations by Feathers and Fins of a hunt due to weather or other extreme circumstances will result in a rescheduling of the hunt or refund as agreed upon. In short, you be fair with us, we will be fair with you. We are looking to build long term relationships with our hunters, based on transparency and honesty. That said we still have a business to run.

Please contact us directly about cancellations.

Things to Bring

  • Shotgun
  • Ammo – at least two boxes per day (50 shells total). Steel or Tungsten
  • Recommendations are:
  • 2 or BB shot size for geese
  • 4, 5 or 6 shot size for ducks
  • 5 shot size for upland birds

There will be extra ammo available for sale if needed with the folks at Nechako Sporting Goods in Vanderhoof. We also recommend Corlane Sporting Goods in Dawson Creek or Prince George, BC for any gun service or repair.

Clothing

Since weather can change abruptly, layers are key as they allow for adaptability to changing weather patterns.  A moisture wicking base layer, along with a few insulating layers and a waterproof/breathable outer layer is best. This allows you to layer up when it’s cold and peel it off if it warms up. Of course, warm and flexible gloves, warm headgear and warm socks are also important.

  • Warm waterproof boots and warm socks
  • Toque – (that’s Canadian for “warm hat”)
  • Neck warmer
  • Gloves
  • Camouflage clothing
  • Long underwear for the cool fall mornings
  • Light enhancing glasses are optional
  • Headlamp (helps when setting decoys out in the dark)
